Associate Veterinarian
The Associate veterinarian works with the practice owner to define and implement practice medical policies and procedures that ensure quality patient care. They deliver medical, surgical and dental care to patients. The Associate Veterinarian plays a key role in building and maintaining client relationships as well as staff relationships. He/She may assist in supervising staff members in their daily medical duties when the Manager is not in the practice to oversee this important function. This is a leadership position with the important responsibility of ensuring a positive work environment in which the practice can achieve its goals
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- D.V.M. licensed in Florida
- D.E.A licensed in Florida
Veterinary Technician
This is a brief overview of the job description for the veterinary technicians at Pine Meadow Veterinary Clinic.
Purpose
- To assist the doctor in all procedures to most efficiently treat patients and maximize production.
- To handle the patient flow and service to clients so they feel as comfortable as possible before, during and after the treatment of their animals.
Product
- A fully facilitated doctor who is able to quickly and easily move through procedures.
- A patient who is competently cared for throughout the visit and a client who is satisfied with the service from the office and therefore actively refers family members and friends to the practice.
Daily duties of a Veterinary Technician include but are not limited to:
- Taking clients and patients to the exam rooms
- legal and organized record keeping of client and patient information
- assist doctor with restraint and treatment of patients
- administer vaccines and medications
- enter charges using veterinary computer software
- prepare surgery rooms and patients
- assist/monitor surgeries
- draw blood for laboratory diagnostics
- fill prescriptions
- daily facility cleaning and taking x-rays
The position of veterinary technician is physically demanding. A technician, at times, will be required to kneel and stand for long periods of time. Anyone with physical impairments, such as back and knee injuries, may not be able to perform the physical duties that are necessary from veterinary technicians.
Veterinary Assistant
This is a brief overview of the job description for the veterinary assistants at Pine Meadow Veterinary Clinic.
Purpose
- To assist the technicians in all procedures to most efficiently treat patients and maximize production.
- To handle the patient flow and service to clients so they feel as comfortable as possible before, during and after the treatment of their animals.

- Patient care – feed, give water to and walk patients
- legal and organized record keeping of client and patient information
- assist doctor/technician with restraint and treatment of patients
- administer vaccines and medications
- enter charges using veterinary computer software
- assist with preparation of surgery patients
- draw blood for laboratory diagnostics
- fill prescriptions
- daily facility cleaning and taking x-rays

Receptionist
Purpose
- To keep the appointment book full, rescheduled appointments to a minimum and patient flow smooth and efficient.
- To ensure that our clients feel welcome and comfortable with and in our office by correctly handling them (and their pets) from the first telephone contact, through their arrival and treatment at the office
Product
- A happy, satisfied client who adheres to the Doctor’s recommendations for treatment scheduling and refers other patients into the practice
- Correctly routed flow of patients and communications within the office
Duties
- Opening procedures – count the cash drawer, prepare for surgery check-ins and upcoming appointments
- Throughout the day – answer multi-line telephone, schedule appointments, balance between phone calls and clients in-clinic, optimize flow of drop-off appointments and scheduled appointments, perform monetary transactions accurately.
- Closing procedures – count cash drawer, check-in sheets prepared for the next day and end of day checklist complete, area is clean/orderly and products stocked.
- At times, the receptionist may need to assist the technicians with technician duties, such as vaccinating, restraint and reading samples.
The receptionist is that person who controls the optimum flow of clients, patients and communication in the office. The Receptionist is, in effect, the hub of the office, and as such, the office will be judged greatly by the image that he/she presents.
